My nephew lives in San Diego, California and always has fresh produce. Makes me jealous in the winter but come spring I get to really appreciate the taste of fresh leafy vegetables.
We have a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) membership and get a box of veges each week. Our particular CSA has some vegetables that you don't normally see in the store - green garlic, garlic scapes, fava beans - and that gives me the opportunity to try some new foods and recipes.
Before the CSA membership we shopped at our local Saturday Market and farm stands.
Eating in a healthy manner is so much easier when we have fresh food.
